Dissolution of Parish Council – 1907

It was reported in the Bicester Herald of 10 May 1907 that the Local Government  Act Committee of Oxfordshire County Council reported that a petition had been received from the Parish Meeting of Oddington for the dissolution of the Parish Council on the grounds of the deceased population of the parish. According to the last census the population was 109, and it is now estimated to be less than that. The committee recommended that an order should be made to dissolve the Parish Council, under the provisions of the Local Government Act, 1894, section 39, so that the procedure of a statutory Parish Meeting should apply to the rural parish.
