A Sudden Death at Oddington
From the Bicester Advertiser and Mid-Oxon Chronicle of 15 June 1923
ODDINGTON
A painfully sudden death occurred on June 3rd in the village, at the residence of Mr Henry Shepherd, when his son came home from Old Headington for the day to see his parents. The deceased, John Shepherd, who was only 46 years of age, died in his mother’s arms. The extremely sudden nature of the death cast a gloom over the village, especially as the deceased leaves a window and several children.
Footnote: John Shepherd was born at Charlton-on-Otmoor in 1877, the son of Henry and Mary Shepherd. He was buried at Oddington on 7 June 1923.
