Advowson of Oddington

   Dr. Ralph Bathurst was President of Trinity College, Oxford from 1664 to 1704 and Vice Chancellor of Oxford University from 1673 to 1676. In 1700 he purchased the advowson of Oddington for the benefit of his college. He died on 14 January 1704, aged 84 years.

 

Advowson is defined as the right of nomination or presentation to an ecclesiastical benefice. An advowson is held by a patron, who may be an individual or institution, clerical or secular.
