Oddington Winter Gathering

The Oddington Winter Gathering took place at St. Andrew’s on 8 December 2018. It was organised by Julia Burchell, Juliet Bostwick and Charlotte Maddison, assisted by other members of the Church Users Group.

The church looked at its best, with festive decorations and a splendid Christmas tree. The ladies of the parish had been busy baking and the food was supplemented by mulled wine and mulled apple juice. A raffle was organised by Sarah Young, who provided all the prizes.

Guests were welcomed into the churchyard by Stuart Carnegie on the bagpipes. Stuart played again at the end of the event.

Master of Ceremonies, Mark Stanley-Price, welcomed everyone and introduced each item in the programme. The organist was Rosemary Morton-Jack.

The star performers were the Grand Islip Parp. Between their sessions there were carols, and readings by people from the village, namely Martha and Eleanor Johnson, Rosemary Morton-Jack, Julia Burchell, Emily Saunders and Nigel Lambert. In addition, members of the audience read ‘Pop-up poetry’, contained in an envelope on their seat.

A most enjoyable event raised the sum of £283 for the Oxfordshire Homeless Project.
