It was reported in the Bucks Herald of 26 June 1920 that, a well known Oxfordshire farmer had just died in the person of Mr William Haynes, of Oddington. Deceased held the tenancy of Rectory Farm for 70 years, celebrated two silver weddings, and saw 33 great grandchildren born.
William Haynes was born at Cumnor in 1829. He married Martha Mary Smith in 1895. Martha died at Oddington in 1935. A number of their descendants still live in Oddington and Charlton.
